“Ruthless” anticipated as the biggest event in Fightcard history

Jeff Burdorf (pictured) will take on Adam Medansky for FCE's first ever Heavyweight Title on April 11After the state of Illinois turned the MMA world upside down by canceling all events statewide and setting forth new regulations, Fightcard Entertainment’s co-owners Brian Angelo and Nilo Soto moved forward by putting on the state’s first sanctioned event on February 26th.

Fightcard plans to build upon their momentum with “Ruthless,” an event being billed as “The Biggest Event in Fightcard History,” which will take place on April 11th

Chicagoans Mark Miller and Kevin Knabjian to Appear on TUF 9

Two welterweights from the Chicagoland area will appear as cast members on the upcoming season 9 of The Ultimate Fighter. Mark Miller (pictured), a former IFL veteran, trains at POW MMA. Miller owns wins over current UFC fighters Josh Neer and Brad Blackburn. Kevin Knabjian, a former wrestler at  Eastern Illinois University (Matt Hughes’ Alma Mater), has experience fighting in the WEC as well as many of Chicagoland’s local organizations  [Read More]

According to a report on Fightticker, fans of Clay “The Carpenter” Guida will be able to purchase items from his 3 piece clothing collection, due to appear in April 2009. Guida recently signed a sponsorship deal with Silverstar, a clothing and accessory company that works with MMA fighters including UFC belt holders Georges St. Pierre and Rashad Evans. Sunday’s DREAM 7 had its share of interesting moments, ranging from newsworthy performances to comic finishes. Chicagoland’s Chase Beebe, who pulled out of the UWC Man of War event on February 21st due to an injury, took on MMA first-timer Joe Warren. beebe-warrenOn Sunday, March 8th, former WEC bantamweight champion Chase Beebe will be taking on MMA newcomer Joe Warren in the first round of DREAM’s featherweight grand prix in Japan.

Both fighters come from a wrestling background. Joe Warren, a former Greco-Roman wrestling World Champion, will be making his MMA debut.

Sanchez-Guida Agreed for TUF 9 Finale

Diego Sanchez and Clay Guida are heading straight for one another. The potent lightweight pair has agreed to meet in the headlining bout of “The Ultimate Fighter 9” finale on June 20 at the Pearl inside the Palms Resort in Las Vegas, according to sources close to the fighters.  Read more on Sherdog.com.
