Chicagoans Ricardo Lamas and Clay Guida have both been confirmed as participants of the first UFC on Fox event, which marks the first time the Ultimate Fighting Championship has appeared on network television. The event takes place on November 12th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA, and is headlined by a Heavyweight title fight between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos.

Clay Guida will be fighting former WEC Champion Ben Henderson in what could be a fight for the lightweight #1 contender spot. Guida has won his last 4 fights, 3 of which were by submission. The sole decision victory was over Anthony Pettis, who beat Ben Henderson in the WEC’s final event to take the WEC Lightweight Belt.

Aside from the loss to Pettis, Henderson has been on a tear. The only other defeat on Ben’s 14-2 pro record came back in 2007. His most recent victory was a decision win over Jim Miller, who was previously thought to be the top contender at lightweight. With the Guida vs Henderson match-up, not only should we see a great ground war between 2 talented grapplers, but we will also get to see a battle of the best hair. Both fighters have trademark long locks, and even Henderson’s manager Malki Kawa had to comment that “we can make it a hair match – loser shaves his head.”

For Ricardo Lamas, he will be making his 2nd UFC appearance, as well as his 2nd fight at featherweight. Lamas will be taking on WEC Veteran Cub Swanson, who will be making his UFC debut after a year-long hiatus from fighting due to injuries. Cub last fought at WEC 52 on November 11, 2010, where he defeated Mackens Sermerzier by unanimous decision. Lamas has won 4 of his past 5 bouts, including a highlight reel flying knee knockout over Bendy Casimir at WEC 47, and most recently a brutal TKO victory over Matt Grice at UFC on Versus 4. With Swanson’s history of past losses due to flying knees, it would be interesting if Lamas looked into employing the same tactics he did against Casimir.
