Last week, Strikeforce added an additional fight to their Fedor vs. Henderson card, which takes place, July 30, 2011 at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates. With just over two weeks notice, heavyweight mixed martial arts fighter Gabe Salinas-Jones, 26, signed the contract he’s been preparing for his entire life. Gabe will be taking on Bryan Humes, a fighter with a 6-1 record, whose sole loss is to Paul Buentello.
Fighting out of Oak Brook, IL and managed by Top of The Food Chain MMA, Salinas-Jones boasts an undefeated professional record of 4-0, and an amateur record of 14-0. Salinas-Jones’ last fight took place at Cut Throat MMA’s Supremacy III in May, another fight that was booked with only weeks to prepare. Salinas-Jones defeated fellow heavyweight John Hook in the first round by rear naked choke hold. The Strikeforce audience can expect that Salinas-Jones will walk in to the cage on July 30th and deliver a similar performance.
“I’m simply ready for the fight—always ready to fight. I’ve been preparing for seven years, and it doesn’t matter if I fight tomorrow or in two months,” said Salinas-Jones.
When Salinas-Jones is not training, he is a local business owner. Salinas-Jones owns and runs Overcome Average located in Addison, whose focus is strength and speed training. In addition to working with athletes, Gabe helps individuals diet and get back into shape.
