While the WEC’s next card takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 9th, it will have a Windy City feel to it.
Headlining the card will be Miguel Torres (East Chicago, IN), who will be defending his 135 lb Title against contender Brian Bowles. Torres vs. Bowles was initially scheduled to take place at WEC 40 in Chicago in April, but Bowles pulled out due to injury.
Also on the main card is Island Lake’s Jeff Curran. Curran, who runs Curran Martial Arts in Crystal Lake, IL, will be fighting Takeya Mizugaki. Mizugaki was also last seen in action at WEC 40, where he replaced the injured Brian Bowles and lost a five round battle by unanimous decision to Miguel Torres.
While the following bout has yet to be officially confirmed, it looks as though Elmhurst native Ricardo Lamas will be taking on Danny Castillo of Urijah Faber’s Ultimate Fitness. Lamas made his WEC debut at WEC 39, where he defeated fellow Chicagoan Bart Palaszewski in a three round unanimous decision.
